It all Started in Hobart

And it only took me a couple of years to figure it out

A Study in Ollie

The small dog that played a HUGE role in all of this

So at the beginning of this whole new chapter in my life Tami and I decided that we wanted another dog. I, having been around nothing but rescues (bully breeds) and mutts to this point, had the great idea of getting a dog breed that Tami knew nothing about.

When we first met him at the adoption center I didn’t know what to make of him. He mostly just wandered around the enclosure we were in sniffing everything but didn’t really pay any of us, Maverick included, any mind. Now having dealt with all of the dogs that I have dealt with, that was nothing. He didn’t show any signs of aggression what-so-ever. That was a win in my book. So home he came!

We are pretty sure that the first year or two of his life were pretty rough. Any time we would take him for walks he would look for slugs to eat (even though he was getting two meals a day every day). But regardless of where he came from he opened up to us in just a few weeks. Though I can’t lie, they were not the easiest two weeks, at least for everyone who was stuck at home. I had to go to work still, so Tami took the brunt of it all. He became a a great companion for the whole house, and quite the little snuggle bug. He also started to really show his personality after we threw him and Maverick in the car and went on a road-trip up and down the Oregon coast. After that it’s like he had always been there.

His favorite thing in the world is his ball. Like no joke if I let him have it all the time he would never stop playing fetch. His next favorite thing though is to just sit and watch the world in peace. Well… that and snuggles. If only we pesky humans could keep our silly decorations off of him. But seriously, he is one of the most loving dogs I have had the pleasure of having in my life. I am so glad that we found him when we did.

So here is to my little buddy. He has taken everything we have thrown at him. And even when he was at his low point he was still there whenever we asked him to be. And no with his new terror of a little brother, he has someone to pass all of his “wisdom” down to.
